Well it ain't rocket science, but even if it was I'm your guy. PhD student in engineering moving into the political arena with an interest in science, technology, and national security policy.
This is the first in a three-part video series I'm doing for Huffington Post's Off the Bus.
Bill Richardson spent Friday, October 5, in Atlanta, GA, where he chartered a Spanish-named campaign infrastructure in a state with its fair share of anti-immigrant sentiments; enjoyed a lonely lunch at the Varsity with a nutritious "Yellow Dog;" and, in a bit of a switch, helped local Democrats raise a little money for their efforts here at home.
Video below the fold...
Mitt Romney passed through Atlanta a couple weeks ago to buy some votes with free hot dogs. For about 15 minutes, he said almost nothing of substance but your standard GOP platitudes, and he made no effort to differentiate himself from other Republicans -- just kept pointing out how he's not Clinton, Obama, or Edwards (well DUH).
I only offer up this video I took of the event (and frequently injected commentary) as a mid-afternoon humorous distraction from GonzoByeBye and VickSorry overload, if you're in need of a break. The glaring, grammatically challenged typo on the "Georgian's for Mitt" [sic] banner alone is worth a look. But that wasn't the only thing making me snicker; Romney himself delivered plenty of funny-if-they-weren't-so-sad brain ticklers himself, including my favorite: "We don't want the cost of the uninsured to be borne by all of us; we want people to pay their own way."
Yeah, I'm not sure how people who can't afford insurance are supposed to pay for insurance, either.
On to the video...
For those of you still wondering why Biden voted for the Iraq war funding supplemental in May, here's some video footage I took in Charleston that I'm just now getting around to uploading.
Sen. Joe Biden held a press conference in Charleston, SC on July 23 before the CNN-YouTube debate, where two local companies had on display examples of Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles (MRAPVs). The Biden Amendment to the Iraq war funding supplemental passed in May included funding for accelerated procurement and deployment of these vehicles, which are four to five times safer against IED attacks, which account for 70% of our casualties in Iraq.
